To move down the page hold the mouse completely still and gently pull the mouse wheel, in the middle of the mouse, towards you with your index finger.
          Introductory Computer Lesson

The secret of learning mouse control is keeping the heel of your hand on the desk and your thumb and other fingers in the "holding" position as seen here.

To move down the page hold the mouse completely still and gently pull the mouse wheel towards you with your index finger.
Hold the mouse completely still and gently press and release the left mouse button without lifting your finger off the button. Clicking sends commands to the computer. Do not move the mouse while clicking or you will send the wrong command and have to start all over again.

 Exercise 01: Mouse Driving

If you lay your hand over the mouse it usually ends up in the right position. Rest the heel of the hand, your thumb and your pinky on the desk. Your index finger rests on the left mouse button and your middle finger rests on the right mouse button.
Don't worry if you have never handled a mouse before. As with most other things you'll find practice makes perfect.

Always keep your hand relaxed on the mouse as you press and release (click) without lifting your finger completely off the button. Clicking sends a command to the computer if you accidentally move the mouse and click at the same time you will send the wrong command and have to start all over again.

For the practice you need to master the mouse:

Hold the mouse completely still and Click on the http:// links below then follow the instructions, on the webpage that comes up.

A word about Windows. Pop-up boxes tell you what buttons or icons do. Icons and buttons are the small pictures that act as shortcuts or commands.
(Try this now) Do Not Click, just place the mouse pointer on each of the three square buttons in the top right hand corner and read the pop-up (explanation) boxes that appear. Most web pages have the same three command buttons in the top right hand corner.

As you see in the little pop-up windows
.
Left to right they are Minimize, Maximize and Close.

Left click on the Minimize button at the top of this screen and it will shrink the page, or window, down to it’s title on the bottom task bar.
Left click on the title will bring it back up or Restore it
(Try it now).
