Volunteers

Castle Community Office is able to open six days a week thanks to the regular commitment and assistance of a team of volunteers. Each volunteer brings a unique set of skills and experience and all are encouraged to share their knowledge and develop new skills.  All volunteers make a direct and valued contribution to the work of Castle Community Office.  Volunteers are currently working together to write and deliver beginners computer classes and have assisted with website creation and computer maintenance.

The following list provides a general guide to the activities undertaken by volunteers:

Customer service

Assisting with a broad range of customer enquiries including signposting and retrieving information from leaflets and the Internet

Computer access

Assisting customers in the use of computers, scanners and printers on request

Office services

Assisting customers in the use of photocopying, laminating etc and dealing with small amounts of cash

Community newsletter

When funding permits, a newsletter is produced and this will involve volunteers in marketing, research, graphics and word processing

Gift cards

Making items to sell to raise extra funds

As stated above, the skills and interests of each volunteer will to an extent determine which activities they may become involved with and specific projects may be created according to their interests and abilities.

All volunteers have free access to the computers and the opportunity to receive more formal training as appropriate.

If you live in the Scarborough area and are interested in volunteering please call in to discuss this and pick up an application form.
